It will take few weeks before the guide is available at Stiematzky and Zomet Sfarim (book stores) in Israel and then online too.

The only way to buy it until then is to download the info. above and you'll find there all you need. It takes 1-3 days to ship in Israel.

I guess that's your best option now since you are starting on Wednesday.

Re: New guide

I was on the INT for five weeks this spring. When I arrived in Israel all I had was a road map, a dotted line to follow and a knowledge of what the INT trail markers looked like.  For the first two weeks of my trip I relied on the kindness of fellow hikers and the kindness of strangers to help me along the trail.  Fortunately, Israel welcomes hikers and I met wonderful people the entire length of the country!

Two weeks into the trip I got an advance copy of the english language guide to the trail.   Having the guide was like exiting a cave into the daylight!  Sharing the english guidebook with other hikers (mostly Israeli who were carrying a Hebrew guide ) I found that even the natives enjoyed the information supplied and found the guide to be very helpful compared to the Hebrew guide.

So, my opinion is that there are three items to carry to have a successful hike of the INT:  water, a sunhat and the guidebook.

The maps in the guide are just great. A complete set of topographical maps  of the trail is included in the guide.

This book will open Israel to a flood of hikers from around the world!  How I envy those who have not yet seen the wilderness of Israel from the trail! To anyone who is contemplating doing this hike I say:  take the leap.  There is no where else on earth to find what you will find on the INT.

I have hiked the INT , and met many tourist hikers that complained mostly about lack of info about the trail in other languages , exept for hebrew. A year later the new English guide has been published , and I must say that this is the ultimate solution for a hiker from abroad. It's true that Israelis are always willing to help , but how many days will pass till you find one in the desert part?

As an average hebrew speaking  Israeli (don't pay attention that I writing in english), I have only one guide that exists in the stores in hebrew , and it does not provide me too much information as the new guide does. You have a complete list of trail angels , water refill points ,important phone numbers, comlete guiding and directing along the trail, and the maps....you have no idea how much they cost if you go and buy them separately. I read the guide , and except lots of technical info there's some fun too.

Don't miss the experience to hike the holy land, and for your safety and convenience , if you do so, be sure you have the new guide  with you.
