Dan to Haifa

Do you think the weather is too hot to do it during June 20 - 30?

Where can I just get a map for this section?

It is very hot but possible. You should rest during the hot hours of the day (09:30-16:00). Maps in English are in the guide, or in Hebrew from the SPNI.

Re: Dan to Haifa

I thought the north would be a bit cooler, even in the summer. I am looking for a 4 day/2-3 night backpacking route for myself and teenage kids in August. I am trying to decide between a yam l'yam route or a small section of the INT. Do you have a recommendation. I have found virtually no info on the yam l'yam route and am now favoring a section of the INT. But, the heat will obviously be a factor.

Re: Dan to Haifa

August is bad. But if you want to make a choice Yam le Yam (Sea to Sea) is definitely a better choice. You have more shade than in other places. Nahal Amud on day 3 or 4 of Yam le Yam, is hot, very hot, because of the high cliffs above it, on both sides. Make sure you take a lot water with you and don't attempt to hike the whole length of Nahal Amud in one day.

The Hebrew guide (Shvil Israel by Yaacov Saar and Yagil Henkin / Eshkol publishing) שביל ישראל" יעקב סער ויגיל הנקין " has all the maps and hike description of the Yam le Yam route.
