We recently started the INT from north to south in segments.  We competed the first test hike form the Golan to Tel Hai last week (it was amazing!!!!)  and I now know that sneakers are not going to work for me or my husband.  I would like some light weight boots and he wants good hiking shoes.  I also need quite a bit of other basic hiking gear since I borrowed stuff for this first hike.

Does anyone know of a discount store (perhaps online) where such gear can be bought in Israel?  The two main options (ricochet and hatayel) seem over priced.

Also any recommendations on good light boots and good hiking shoes would be most appreciated.

Diana, sorry for not reponding earlier to the original message of May. Did not see it.

Do not compromise on the quality of hiking boots. No need for GTX in israel. Asolo Higland or similar are great. Occasionally you can find some discounts, but don't buy hiking boots Ibecuase they are discounted.

If you have a chance to buy hiking gear back home please do that. Hiking gear is more expensive in Israel (customs + 16% VAT).
