Nope, I don't have moderator access.
Here's the story: last year, during the IDF's campaign in Gaza, a pro-Palestinian bush-league hacker inserted some code into the forums that redirected people to another website. The best solution at the time was for moderators to approve posts. We switched a lot of things around at that time, and now we need to reevaluate.
I plan on maintaining more of a presence around the forums, even as my Ph.D. work picks up (!), but even once my account has moderator status again, I'll have to learn how to use the tools. Right now Greg supervises the process, and he does a great job, considering that he works full-time, has a family, and receives zero financial compensation for his work on the website and the forums. But I'll be the first to admit that we need to get some things in order around here. Regarding that, Yankale has done a great job of being a solid presence in the forums, and his comments have been invaluable to a lot of people.
Ashen, you have good ideas, but even once we modify security settings, individual users won't have the ability to create new forums. We'll consider your ideas, for sure, but the first order of business will be making sure everyone's posts are visible in a timely manner.
So I'll keep you posted -- you'll hear more from me and/or Greg about this soon. Meanwhile, keep posting, discussing, questioning, and (politely) debating! These forum posts, by themselves, are going to develop into a valuable resource for hikers. And you guys represent the beginnings of a community both inside and outside Israel that understands and loves the INT, and which appreciates its unique character.
