Most Updated "Simun Shvilim" Maps?

According to my recent trip to LaMetayel Odafim in Haifa, the trail only covers a subset of the full set of 20 Hebrew maps.  The list, including the date each map was last published is:

1 - 2008

2 - 2007

3 - 2006

4 - 2008

7 - 2006

9 - 2006

11 - 2006

12 - 2006

14 - 2005

15 - 2006

17 - 2007

18 - 2006

19 - 2007

20 - 2007

Here are my questions:

1.   How often do they re-release these maps?

2.   Is there a schedule somewhere were I can find when each one is planned to be released?  I'm hiking in August, 2010, and I will want to buy the must updated at that point, but if there are some that aren't going to be updated before that, then I'd like to buy them already.

3.    How much is the discount that you get by going to the seminar in Tel Aviv given by the SPNI?

http://www.teva.org.il/?CategoryID=279&ArticleID=1982&Page=1

4.   Have I missed a map?  5&6 covers Samaria, 8 covers Judea, 10 seems to only have a small corner of the INT which is also covered in other maps, 13 wasn't even in the store when I checked, and 16 didn't seem to have any of the trail either.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Feel free to post replies with more-updated lists of the release dates of the maps.

For the sake of those who don't speak Hebrew: "Simun Shvilim" means "Marked Trails "

Here are my questions:

1.   How often do they re-release these maps?

Every 3 years or so.But there might be a longer delay now since a completely new layout of maps will be released starting with map #9 in a few months. This process of modifying the maps will take about 3 years. Expect the new layout to be completed by 2012-13.

2.   Is there a schedule somewhere were I can find when each one is planned to be released?  No.

I'm hiking in August, 2010, and I will want to buy the must updated at that point, but if there are some that aren't going to be updated before that, then I'd like to buy them already.

Instead of buying maps in Hebrew which are NIS 900 (discounted) you should buy the guide in Hebrew where all the trail maps, (and they are all topo maps 1:50,000) are updated to July 2009. The guide is only NIS 198 and if you buy it on the internet you get  a 25% discount.

3.    How much is the discount that you get by going to the seminar in Tel Aviv given by the SPNI?  NIS 900 for the complete set. (I hear that they are selling only the complete set.) Check with the SPNI

 You have them all.

Any help will be much appreciated.

I hope you've got at least some help.

Re: Most Updated "Simun Shvilim" Maps?

I'm not interested in buying the full set of maps, rather only the 14 listed above.  Also, on that link, it says that if you go to the seminar in Tel Aviv, you can get a discount on the maps.  The question remains - how much is that discount?  And how long is it good for?

Re: Most Updated "Simun Shvilim" Maps?

According to http://shvil.wikia.com/wiki/עידכונים_למפות , map 14 was updated in 2009.  That link confirms that map 13 isn't relevant, making the updated list:

1 - 2008

2 - 2007

3 - 2006

4 - 2008

7 - 2006

9 - 2006

11 - 2006

12 - 2006

14 - 2009

15 - 2006

17 - 2007

18 - 2006

19 - 2007

20 - 2007

Re: Most Updated "Simun Shvilim" Maps?

In the past they've sold only the 14 maps for NIS 700. I've heard that they are now selling the full set for NIS 900. The discount is not time limited.

You can call them at: 03-6388620 and ask.

Re: Most Updated "Simun Shvilim" Maps?

Yashen,

My husband and I just want to do a 5 day hike, starting from Dan to the south on the trail this summer. We probably start around June 20. Would it be possible to just get the maps for the northern part?

Yes it is possible to buy the maps only for the northern part, you need maps 1 and 2 for your hike, and they are in Hebrew if this a problem for you. They are approx. NIS 90 each. Enjoy your hike.

Re: Most Updated "Simun Shvilim" Maps?

Are the maps in the Hebrew version (or, the English version) removeable or are they bound into the book. I would like to read the text prior, but have individual maps to carry.

In both guides the maps are bound into the book, but they can easily be removed without any damage. I've met many hikers who did just that.

There is a new atals in Hebrew. All maps in the atlas are updated to: July 1st, 2010.
